Chocolate Mousse

This easy French dessert is even better the next day!

Chocolate Mousse

This mousse is creamy, thick and tastes of rich chocolate. Garnish with cream, berries or both.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. (454 gr) Hersey Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips (9 CHO/TBSP/15 gr) 272.4 CHO
  • 3 cups (750 ml) Whipping Cream, divided 0 CHO
  • ½ tsp. salt 0 CHO
  • 1 TBSP Vanilla 0 CHO

TOTAL CHO 272.4 CHO

  • TOTAL WEIGHT 1063 GRAMS
  • 272.4 CHO DIVIDED BY 1063 GRAMS = .256 CHO/GRAM
  • 1/3 CUP = 63 GRAMS (.256 CHO x 63 GR) 16.12/1/3 CUP
  • ½ CUP = 95 GRAMS (.256 CHO x 95 GR) 24.32 CHO/1/2 CUP

Instructions

  1. Place semi sweet chocolate chips in a medium bowl and set aside.
  2. Heat 1 cup cream and salt in a small saucepan to almost the point of boiling, hot but not boiling.
  3. Pour hot cream over chips and let rest for 2 minutes. Then whisk until incorporated and smooth. Let cool completely.
  4. Next in a large bowl whip remaining 2 cups of cream until it forms stiff peaks.
  5. Add about 1/3 of the chocolate mixture and gently fold in until incorporated. Repeat 2 more times with remaining chocolate.
  6. Place in desired serving cups and refrigerate at least 4 – 6 hours or preferably overnight.
