Cabbage Roll Tomato Sauce
This sauce is really nice with the cabbage and meatballs. We make meatballs along with the cabbage rolls because the girls love the flavour of everything cooked together, but aren't sure of the cabbage yet.
Ingredients
- 796 ml can tomatoes (3 CHO/1/2 cup/125 ml) 19.1 CHO
- 2 cups (500 ml) Pacific Creamy Tomato Soup 30 CHO
- 1 tsp. salt 0 CHO
- ½ tsp pepper 0 CHO
TOTAL CHO 49.1 CHO
- TOTAL WEIGHT AFTER COOKED 1010 GRAMS
- 49.1 DIVIDED BY 1010 GRAMS = .048 CHO/GRAM
- 1 TBSP = 15 GRAMS (.048 CHO x 15 GRAMS) .72 CHO/TBSP
- ¼ CUP = 4 TBSP (.72 CHO x 4) 2.88 CHO/1/4 CUP
- ¼ CUP = 60 GRAMS
Instructions
- Puree tomatoes, if desired and mix with soup and spices.
To a crock pot; add 6 frozen meatballs and then top with 6 frozen cabbage rolls. Pour tomato mixture over top and set crock pot on high for 4 hours. Serve with Elsie’s potatoes and sour cream.
