Grilled Gruyere

A sweet but salty cheese; Gruyere, is a staple ingredient in a traditional Swiss cheese Fondue. If there is any Gruyere leftover from the apres ski fondue or any other winter occasion; make a grilled sandwich with a slightly salty, high quality deli meat.

Ingredients

2 slices bread CHO according to your product

  • 3 slices Gruyere 0CHO
  • 2 slices ham/capocollo/etc. 0 CHO
  • Butter 0 CHO

Instructions

  1. Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
  2. Place non-stick skillet on stovetop and turn to medium low heat.
  3. Layer cheese slices and ham on the unbuttered side of the bread. Top with second bread slice. Buttered side on the outside – top and bottom.
  4. Place sandwich in the skillet, cheese side down, and slowly melt cheese. The important thing is to melt the cheese slowly, and then flip the sandwich. Turn the heat to medium high and brown each side once the cheese has melted.
  5. Remove sandwich to cutting board, cut into half or quarters and serve with sides of your choice
