Christmas Charcuterie

Charcuterie’s and Cheese Boards are some of the most versatile appetizers or even meals. During the Christmas Season there is lots of visiting and “Ho Ho Ho”; which makes them perfect to bring to the get together or to host with, regardless of whether it is a large or small crowd.

Charcuteries are primarily meat: cold-cooked, cold-cuts, cured or smoked with a bit of cheese.

Cold-Cooked: Sausage/TenderloinCold-Cuts: Mortadella/Turkey Breast

Cured: Prosciutto/Capocollo

Smoked: Pepperoni/Salami

The star of a Cheese Board is the cheese with the meat and condiments taking a secondary role.

Try to choose a selection of different cheese flavours and textures.

Soft: Brie, goat cheese/Chevre/Burrata

Semi-Soft: Havarti/GorgonzolaSemi-Hard: Cheddar/Gouda

Hard: Parmesan/Manchego

Both are accompanied with briny olives, pickles, crackers, baguette, crostini, fruit, nuts, jams and mustards.

Place the bigger stuff on the board first and then fill in the blanks. Add and layer.

Cut the cheese in slices, chunks or wedges, and then start to garnish with honey, pickles, flowers, knives and spoons.

Some of our favourite things:

Valbella Pate (Pepper and Gourmet)

Brie and Lavender Jelly/Fig Jam

Chevre and Roasted Peppers

Burrata and Slow Roasted Tomatoes

Prosciutto and Cantaloupe

Manchego/Pecorino and Honey

Add a selection of wines/ non alcoholic drinks and enjoy the company!

Recipe Notes

Pour a selection of wines:  wine, red, rose and sparkling.  Keep them cold in an ice bucket and enjoy the evening.

Non-alcoholic drinks taste great so keep those on hand for anyone who prefers.
