Worcestershire Sauce and Flank Steak

The Lea and Perrins Brand of Worcestershire Sauce has been around since the early 1800’s enhancing many foods and drinks; except it is not Gluten Free. “The Wizard’s” Organic Gluten Free Vegan Worcestershire Sauce, manufactured by Edward’s and Sons Trading Company is the is sold at Planet Organic and is available on-line. Recently, we found "French's" Brand Gluten Free Worcestershire Sauce at Superstore. Here is a favorite marinade for flank steak that we haven’t had in a long long time. The flavor of the Worcestershire Sauce really comes through. Flank steak is really lean and must be marinated for at least 8 hours, overnight is best. We don’t count carbs in the marinade because it is discarded later.

Ingredients

1 lb (454 gr) flank steak

    Marinade:

    • ½ cup red wine
    • 3 TBSP GF Soy Sauce
    • 2 TBSP GF Worcestershire Sauce
    • 2 TBSP lemon juice
    • 2 TBSP grainy or Dijon mustard
    • 1 tsp dried thyme

    Instructions

    1. Mix marinade ingredients in a small bowl. Place flank steak in a large Zip Lock bag, add marinade and refrigerate 8 – 24 hours. Turn steak and marinade occasionally.
    2. Discard marinade and barbeque flank steak until desired degree of doneness. Thinly slice steak against the grain and serve with any number of sides or salads.
