Grilled Steak and Cheese Sandwich

Grilled Steak and Cheese Sandwich

There are so many things to do with leftover steak on a hot day. Today the steak is thinly sliced and grilled with cheese. Sometimes it is in the salad, or in the breakfast potato hash. Everyone gets a break, including the chef. We love blue cheese alongside steak, so it only makes sense to do a steak and blue cheese panini or grilled “cheese”, but any cheese you love will do. If you have the chance to pick up Poplar Grove Cheese "Naramata Bench Blue" it is delicious (camembert like inside and blue on the surface.)  Son J says leave the cheese out for an hour and serve, it’s gooey goodness.

Ingredients

  • Steak - cooked how you like it
  • Cheese - your favorite
  • Greens – if desired
  • Bread - will have the only CHO depending on the product you have

Instructions

  1. Cut leftover steak very thinly. Butter 2 slices of bread and flip over. Pile on steak and cheese, close up the sandwich and grill in a hot non stick pan until golden and cheese melted.

Recipe Notes

*There has been much discussion about whether blue cheese is gluten free,  Some actually is GF, and some blue cheeses are infused with gluten.  Cheesemaker's now can buy liquid mold rather than start the "blue" on a bed of bread or infusing it with bread mold.

  • All Poplar Grove Cheese is Gluten Free

Even though Risotto takes a bit of time to prepare, it is very simple to make. This classic Italian dish is buttery and creamy rich. We added high quality scallops and some sautéed oregano for an elegant entree.
