Princess Lisette and the Life Saving Cupcake is the first book by Melanie Bayer, in what we hope to become a series of Princess Lisette stories. When my daughter received this book, it was such a huge moment for her. She had never seen a children’s book that even mentioned T1D, let alone a central character…and a princess on top of all that! For a pink, princess, kind of kid, it felt like Princess Lisette and the Life Saving Cupcake was written for her.
The book chronicles a young girl through diagnosis and adolescent acceptance, into adulthood when she embraces Type 1 Diabetes and becomes a role model for other young T1D’s. This should ABSOLUTELY be part of any young T1D girl’s collection.
A great addition to any classroom or school that a T1D attends, this book is also a wonderful conversation starter for friends of your T1D.
