Saganaki

Saganaki means “little frying pan,” and the type of cheese varies. Most common is graviera but many stores name small pieces of cheese “Saganaki”. We generally just go with whatever is available.

Ingredients

  • 1 TBSP olive oil
  • ½ TBSP (4 gr) cornstarch 3.5 CHO
  • Saganaki 2 CHO/30 GR
  • Lemon
  • TOTAL CHO WILL DEPEND ON THE SIZE OF THE CHEESE AND SERVING

Instructions

  1. Dip cheese; both sides in the cornstarch. Smooth over with your fingers if need be.
  2. In a small non-stick frying pan heat olive oil over medium/high heat.
  3. Add cheese, fry for 2 minutes and flip. Fry another 1 minute or until golden on both sides.
  4. Serve immediately with a squeeze of lemon.
